Mechling - What to buy and when.

To help keep you informed as to what the market is doing, what changes are on the way, and when is a good time to by what. This page is updated monthly. The information is based on common questions asked by our customers, and information given by our suppliers.
: The Good!!- (Recommended)
Maxtor/Seagate Hard drives Maxtor hard drives are at a very good price range and have the lowest return rates.
DFI Motherboard These boards have the lowest RMA history of any board we have carried. We recommend this board if you're looking for stability, and longevity.
MSI Motherboards If you're looking for a powerhouse board with top notch speed, and still have reliability. We have noticed that their RMA's can get tricky at times.
ATI Video Cards By far the most stable, and consistent video card on the market. And with the advent of the X1900 model, the absolute fastest card for most games.
Intel Processors Intel processors are one of our best sellers. Outside of a lighting strike and computer melt down as a result, nothing can seem to hurt them. Their multi-tasking is untouched by any other manufactures.
SB Live AUDIGY-2 Great card, rich sound for music and gaming. Little to no RMA's. However, their drivers are a little extreme.
The Bad!! - (Will Not sell)
Epox Motherboards We no longer offer Epox boards, even by  request. Return rates after a year sky rocket.
GEForce Cards Video Though we have sold many of these, we have found that high end gamers burn them up frequently. RMA rates are too high, and performance drops the hotter the card gets. And conveniently, heat problems are not covered by the manufacture.
GoldStar CDROMS By far, one of the worst reading CD Roms of the (1999 to 2002 time frame.)
SOYO Motherboards To many problems to list! Just a bad board.
The Ugly!!- (Will sell but do not recommend)
Zoom modems Have seen many problems come up with zoom modems. They do have some of the best compression out on the market, however, if you city hop, you may find a good connection in one city, and in the next you may find yourself unable to connect at all without changing strings all the time.
ASUS Motherboards We do sell many of these by request from the customer, however, we have found that ASUS motherboards have certain resource problems. On top of this, it has been discovered that not all components work as well on a ASUS motherboard. Timing and lag problems between components seem to crop up. This has been noticed the most by customers tying to build their own machines.
LITEON CDROMS Above average RMA rates, however, for copy of a protected CD, there is no comparison.
AMD Processors Return rates are high, warranty is low. Performance on a RFE scale single task environment is good and in some cases better then Intel, but multi- task has some issues. Heat is still a problem.
ESS Sound Cards This board is not a high quality board. However, it does make sound, but I would not ask too much form it.
The unknown!!- (Will sell but have not tested most of the properties of each component.)
